Accounting rule change may lead Time Warner to bring billions more to AT&T deal

A dramatic change in how companies will be required to recognize revenues starting in 2018 may give the minimal promised synergies from AT&T Inc.’s and Time Warner Inc.’s proposed combination a multibillion-dollar boost.

The companies have said they are expecting to produce synergies of $1 billion within three years of the closing of the deal, which analysts are expecting will be closely scrutinized by regulators.

Charter Loses More TV Subs, Says Time Warner Cable Savings to "Significantly Exceed" Target

The company, led by CEO Tom Rutledge, issues its second quarterly earnings report since its acquisition of Time Warner Cable, which dragged down the latest sub figures, and Bright House.

Cable operator Charter Communications, in which John Malone's Liberty Broadband owns a big stake, on Thursday reported its third-quarter financials and subscriber trends.

Time Warner earnings: $1.83 a share, vs $1.37 estimate

Time Warner stock was flat Wednesday after the media and entertainment conglomerate reported quarterly earnings and revenue that beat analysts' expectations.

Less than two weeks after the announcement of a merger with AT&T, the company reported third-quarter earnings of $1.83 per share on revenue of $7.2 billion.

Time Warner Cable seeking to fill 60 jobs

Time Warner Cable, now part of the Charter Communications organization, intends to hire about 60 customer-service representatives for open positions in Louisville by Dec. 31.

A job fair is scheduled 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 at the University of Louisville Shelby Campus, Founders Union Building, Room 6, located at 9001 Shelbyville Road.
